Langtang Trekking

Langtang, the third most popular trekking region in Nepal lies directly north of Kathmandu. The Gosaikunda Lakes (the most popular Hindu pilgrimage site) is situated in this region. Langtang also boasts baffling extremes in topography and climate conditions; in just one day you can cross five different vegetation zones, trekking from the subtropics up to the timberline.

The Langtang is one of the world's beautiful valleys, situated in western part of Nepal. From there we can visit to Gossaikunda, a holy place for Hindus, dotted with attractive lakes and set on a mountaintop. This trek has to offer:

1st Day: Kathmandu – Dhunche (1190 m– 1950m)
Drive to Dhunche from Kathmandu time takes about 8 hours. From Kathmandu up to Trisuli Bazaar condition of road is very good but after Trisuli Bazaar condition of road is uneven till Dhunche (1950m). There can be collected wonderful experience from that journey and overnight at camp.

2nd Day: Dhunche – Thulosyabru (1950m – 2100m)
At first, following the road nearly one hour, one can reach the place of Thulo Bharkhu. After that leaving the road climbs steeply to the schoolhouse and then continues up a stone staircase. The walking eventually becomes delightful and occasionally hikes through a pine and Rhododendron forest to Dau Danda. After a short climbing the trek finally enters to Thulosyabru. Walking time takes about 6 hours, overnight at camp.

3rd Day: Thulosyabru – Lama Hotel (2100m – 2380m)
Descending down the ridge past fields, houses and through a forest reaches Ghopche stream. After crossing a bridge mountain path leads to ridge snout. From there descends a steep forest slope to the Langtang river then enters a forest with a gentle ascends gradually gains altitude. After that climbing a steep and comes Lama Hotel (2380m). Walking time takes about 6 hours, overnight at camp.

4th Day: Lama Hotel – Langtang (2380m – 3500m)
To reach Langtang from Lama Hotel takes nearly 5 hours steep along Rhododendron and oak forest, overnight at Langtang (3500m).

5th Day: Langtang – Kyanjin Gompa (3500m – 3960m)
The trail crosses through the stone built village and climbs to Chorten then passes through a Hugemani along a soft trail to Kyanjin Gompa. Walking time takes about 4 hours, overnight at camp.

6th Day: Kyanjin Gompa – Langshisha Kharka
An extra day continues further up Kyanjin Gompa to Langshisha Kharka (4080m) for checking the mountain views of Langtang Lirung (7246m), Langshisha RI (6310m), and gang Chhenpo (6388m) Urkeinmang (6150m), Penthankarpo RI (6830m) and so on. Same day from Langshisha backs to Kyanjin Gompa for over night. Walking time takes about 6 hours for going and coming.

7th Day: Kyanjin Gompa – Tsergo RI
An extra another day continues further up to next peak Tsergo RI for observing very close mountain views and back to Kyanjin Gompa for overnight. Walking time takes about 7 hours for going and coming.

8th Day: Kyanjin Gompa – Lama Hotel (3960m – 2380m)
From Kyanjin Gompa, return to Lama Hotel through the same way. Walking time takes about 7 hours. Trail leads all most flat and down hill.

9th Day: Lama Hotel – Syabrubesi (2380m – 1420m)
From Lama Hotel to Syabrubesi trail leads through the Langtang River almost downhill. Walking time takes about 5 hours, overnight at camp.

10th Day: Syabrubesi – Kathmandu
The journey from Syabrubesi to Kathmandu takes about 9 hour
