Manaslu Trek

Trekking around Manaslu offers a unique opportunity to experience relatively”untouched” region of Nepal. Opened for trekking only since 1991, it provides spectacular beauty along the border of Nepal and China and is now a controlled trekking route which allows organized trekking groups special permits to venture round its spectacular circuit. Located in west-central Nepal, the 177-km trek around Manaslu provides strong walkers the best that Nepal has to offer: fantastic mountain scenery, spanning altitudes from 375m to 5,300m. a diverse range of ecosystems and ethnic cultures. And a trail that puts one physically closer to Tibet than any other trek in Nepal.

1st Day: Kathmandu – Gorkha 
From Kathmandu, time takes about 5 hours by driving to reach Gorkha. In the afternoon, can be sight seen around Gorkha Bazaar and place of Gorkha king from where first brave Gorkha soldiers are originated.

2nd Day: Gorkha – Khanchowk 
At the place of Gorkha, after passing several villages trail leads towards Budi Gandaki River and it head up to Khanchowk bazaar. Walking time takes about 5 hours, overnight at camp.

3rd Day: Khanchowk – Arughat 
From the Khanchowk, mountain trail leads up and down towards Budi Gandaki River . After that passes several villages, one can enter Arughat (760m). Walking time takes about 5 hours, overnight at camp.

4th Day: Arughat – Sotikhola 
At Arughat, trail ascends through the several Magar and Gurung villages to Sotikhola (750m). Walking time takes about 6 hors, overnight at camp.

5th Day: Sotikhola – Doban 
At the place of Sotikhola, the trail ascends slowly until climbs to mountain ridge to Almara. After that reaches Doban (1030m) crossing several villages such as Labubesi, Machha Khola, and Tatopani through the bank of Budhi Gandaki River . Walking time takes about 7 hours, overnight at camp.

6th Day: Doban – Jagat 
From Doban, trail ascends up to Duman. After that mountain trail descends to Yarukhola. It crosses a 93-meter long suspension bridge over the Yarukhola after passing Thado Bhanjyang reaches to Jagat (1410m). Walking time takes about 6 hours, overnight at camp.

7th Day: Jagat – Ngyak 
From Jagat descends to the riverbed. After crossing the river, ascends to a terraced hill of Saguleri and reaches Ngyak (2300m). Walking time takes about 7 hours, overnight at camp.

8th Day: Ngyak – Acclimatization day

9th Day: Ngyak – Ghap 
The trail goes up to Stream of Deng River, a tiny village of 4 houses. After that, trail leads through traditional climbing rock to Ghap (2095m). There, one can see Tibetan culture, Manistone and Chorters all around. Total walking time takes about 7 hours, overnight at camp.

10th Day: Ghap – Lho Gaon 
From Ghap, trail leads crossing the wooden bridge over Budi Gandaki River . After that, through cultivated field reaches Namru, it crosses the Hinan River originating from Linda glacier and comes Lho Gaon (3150m). Manaslu north, Manaslu (8150m0 and others more mountains are visible from Lho Gaon. Walking time takes approximately 5 hours, overnight at camp.

11th Day: Lho Gaon – Sama Gompa 
From Lho Gaon, trail leads through Manistone, wall of the village to very close up view of Manaslu. After that the trail leads to lateral moraine of Pungen glacier towards Sama Gompa. Walking time takes about 4 hors, overnight at camp.

12th Day: Sama Gompa – Samdo 
From Sam Gompa, trail heads through moraine to Karmo Kharka and Karmo maman. It climbs a terraced hill on the opposite bank of Budi Gandaki River . From there it goes towards almost remote permanent settlement Samdo (4000m). Walking time takes about 4 hours, overnight at camp.

13th Day: Samdo – Free day for local excursion

14th Day: Samdo – Guest House 
Trail descends a mountain path from Samdo to Gyala Khola. From Gyala Khola, trekking trail leads to Guest House (4450m). Walking time takes about 6 hours, overnight at camp.

15th Day: Guest House – Larke Phedi 
At the place of Guest House, trail climbs to Cho Canda and Larkya La (5135m). From Larkya La, one can descend through the other side to Larkephedi (4450m). Walking time takes about 6 hours, overnight at camp.

16th Day: Larke Phedi – Karche 
From Larkephedi, trail descends almost to Karche (2785m), through Rhododendron forest. Walking time takes about 7 hours, overnight at camp.

17th Day: Karche – Dharapani 
From Karche, trail leads ascending to Karcha La. After passing it, trail descends through Dudhi Khola and it joins to Marshyangdi River. After crossing it, reaches Dharapani. Walking time takes approximately 7 hours, overnight at camp.

18th Day: Dharapani – Chamje 
Mountain trail passes several villages through the bank of Marshyangdi River and reaches Chamje (1430m). Walking time takes about 5 hours, overnight at camp.

19th Day: Chamje – Bhundanda 
From Chamje, trail leads descending and ascending through the several villages to Bhundanda (1310m). Walking time takes about 5 hours, overnight at camp.

20th Day: Bhundanda – Besisahar 
From Bhundanda, trail leads gently down and flat to Khudi. After crossing it, trail finally ascending to Besisahar. Walking time takes about 6 hours, overnight at camp.

21st Day: Besisahar to Kathmandu 
From Besisahar, time takes to Kathmandu by driving approximately 8 hours.
